Overview

The role of a Fire Alarm Inspector I involves learning and acquiring practical skills in various aspects of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems. As an apprentice, you will work closely with experienced inspectors to gain insights and hands‑on experience in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire protection systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
  • Shadow experienced technicians during site visits to observe and learn industry best practices.
  • Engage in training sessions and workshops to develop foundational knowledge of fire protection system components and operational procedures.
  • Participate in routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of fire alarm systems as needed.
  • Document system inspections, maintenance activities, test results, and repairs.
  • Learn to handle and utilize tools and equipment essential for the installation and upkeep of fire protection systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in all on‑site activities to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, contributing to project tasks and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Seek guidance and mentorship from seasoned professionals to enhance technical skills and progress toward becoming a proficient Fire Protection Technician.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma/GED and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Position requires an additional client background check.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance.
  • Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic.
  • Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work.
  • Ability to function effectively under stress.
  • Strong desire to continuously increase skill set and take on more responsibility.
  • Above average communication skills with customers, field personnel, office staff, and subcontractors.
Certifications
  • Possess NICET Level I in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm System or
  • Pass NICET Level I exam within 90 days of employment.
  • NICET II preferred.

Abilities
  • Lift, carry, and move objects up to 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet, including scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Perform routine physical actions such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Maintain good vision (corrected if necessary) and hearing; communicate in English.
  • Use a standard ladder safely while carrying tools.
  • Recognize potential problems without necessarily solving them.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems, combining information to form conclusions.
  • See details at close range and understand spoken information and ideas.

Pay Range: USD $24.00 - $24.00 /Hr.
