Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC in Jackson, TN is seeking a Fire Alarm Estimator to prepare proposals and estimates for fire alarm systems. You will perform bid layouts, material takeoffs, vendor pricing, and quotes while applying NFPA codes and collaborating with sales, operations and design staff.

Requirements include 2+ years in estimating or designing fire alarm systems, strong math, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience designing or estimating fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA Codes and applying code requirements.
• Ability to create alarm and suppression layouts and perform material take-offs.
• Strong mathematical skills and basic calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self-motivated with independent judgement and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team or independently to meet deadlines.
• Experience with low voltage systems and related electrical work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform bid layouts and material takeoffs.
• Obtain vendor pricing and write quotes.
• Perform basic calculations and code research; assist other estimators as needed.
• Read, interpret, and apply NFPA code requirements for job specs.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and design staff to interpret project specs.
• Produce timely and accurate estimates according to fixed bid dates.
• Produce status reports and participate in planning meetings.
• Enter data into operating systems and update Compass regularly.
