Job description

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to provide inspection and maintenance capabilities. This role works closely with sales, field project teams, and clients to ensure systems are inspected and maintained in a code‑compliant manner.

This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of project execution. The role involves frequent interaction with customers and employees, requiring strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Review system layouts and coordinate with systems and service departments for successful testing and inspection.
  • Create field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.
  • Deliver work on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Log and transmit inspection reports via technical devices.
  • Oversee project inventory and manage vehicle inventory.
  • Work under tight deadlines and support other inspectors with guidance and expertise.
  • Manage job scheduling and progress efficiently, focusing on quality.
  • Comply with industry standards and Sciens safety programs/policies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience as an inspector technician in the fire detection and protection industry.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
  • NICET Level I certification.
  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code or state‑adopted fire code requirements.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow specifications.
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding work, including lifting up to 25 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 50 pounds; ability to work from heights, climb ladders, and stand/walk for most of the day.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and possession of an OSHA–10 certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
