Job summary

Melwood in Ft. Meade, MD is seeking a Fire Alarm/Low Voltage Technician for a full-time, non-exempt role. The position offers an hourly wage of $41.18 and overtime eligibility within a comprehensive benefits package.

The job requires NICET Level I Fire Alarm certification, a high school diploma or GED with 3+ years of related experience, and a valid driver's license. Responsibilities include system programming, maintenance, and coordination with clients and fire marshals.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 3+ years of related experience in fire alarm systems.
• NICET Level I Fire alarm certification required.
• Experience with Notifier, Simplex and Siemens fire alarm systems.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to read schematics and follow written directions.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals and manuals to program and verify new systems.
• Coordinate code requirements with local fire marshals and advise on system programming.
• Oversee technicians, train staff and ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and service low voltage systems and components.
• Communicate system performance to customers and maintain client relations.
• Coordinate with the senior systems coordinator on low voltage projects.
• Inspect electrical systems to evaluate condition and plan maintenance.
• Repair electrical components to ensure safe operation of systems.
• Monitor outside contractors for NEC compliance and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
