Job summary

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer I to design basic building systems, prepare technical documents, and perform engineering calculations in coordination with project teams.

The role involves creating layouts, drawings, and schematics, reviewing shop drawings, and mentoring junior designers while supporting business development and client engagement. A FE exam and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 1 year of experience or 4 years with a high school diploma.
• FE exam completion is preferred to enhance qualifications.
• Certifications such as BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD are beneficial.
• Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software is expected.
• Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design basic building systems and prepare technical documents.
• Create system layouts, drawings, and schematics.
• Review shop drawings for conformance with plans and specs.
• Mentor less experienced designers and support business development.
• Collaborate with project teams and attend client/industry events.
• Maintain knowledge of industry software and evolving codes and standards.
