Job summary

Northstar is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to manage all aspects of fire alarm, VESDA, and special hazard systems on large construction projects. The role involves coordinating with customers and internal teams, developing design schedules, and producing 2D designs using AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, and Navisworks.

The position requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, plus experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required or equivalent experience.
• Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
• Experience in large construction projects preferred.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection design preferred.
• Regular and reliable attendance with ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, VESDA, clean agent, and control systems.
• Communicate project status with customers and internal teams.
• Assist in design schedules and milestones.
• Assist with design, BOM, and scheduling as needed.
• Coordinate with field Superintendents and Project Managers for project needs.
• Operate AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Complete fire protection 2D designs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are a nationally recognized fire protection company that engineers, fabricates, and installs fire sprinkler systems and alarms for structures including commercial buildings, government buildings, healthcare facilities, high-rise condominiums, and mixed-use projects.

Job Summary

Northstar is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer. In this position you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the work assigned to include fire alarm, VESDA, and special hazard systems and components.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for design of fire alarm, VESDA, clean agent, and control systems.
• Responsible for assisting in all communication regarding the project status with both customer base as well as the internal communications.
• Assist in design schedules to meet the required schedule work in progress meetings and milestones.
• Assist with design, bill of materials, and scheduling as needed.
• Work with field Superintendents and Project Managers for project needs and progress.
• Operate AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Complete fire protection 2D designs as needed.
• Other duties assigned.
