Job summary

Aven is seeking an experienced attorney to help ensure our consumer lending products comply with federal and state laws, internal policies, and partner requirements. You will interpret laws, draft and review disclosures, resolve disputes, and advise on risk across a fast-moving environment.

Join a small L&C team (4 lawyers) and contribute to policy development, training, and cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering to embed compliance in lending processes.

Qualifications

• Education: Juris Doctorate.
• Experience: 7+ years practicing law with 3+ years in consumer finance regulatory work.
• In-house fintech/bank/mortgage exposure is a plus.
• Strong familiarity with secured lending, marketing, and servicing laws.
• Proficient with regulatory databases and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring compliance with federal and state consumer lending regulations.
• Monitor state-specific lending laws and licensing requirements.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training.
• Conduct compliance reviews of loan origination, underwriting, and servicing.
• Perform periodic audits of disclosures, notices, and loan documents.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries and internal situations.
• Research regulatory updates and update policies accordingly.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to embed compliance in loan servicing and creation.
• Review marketing materials and loan disclosures for Regulation Z and UDAAP.
• Assist in third-party vendor risk assessments.
