Executive Staff Recruiters / ESR Healthcare in San Francisco is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to assess customer financials and recommend approvals for new or increased exposures within a fast-growing fintech environment. You will analyze financial statements, contribute to credit strategies, and collaborate with risk management.

2-3+ years' underwriting experience, GAAP familiarity, and a finance-related degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years underwriting experience at a financial institution or similar in dealing with commercial exposures (small to large deals)
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or statistics; graduate degree a plus
• Strong understanding of fundamental financial analysis and GAAP accounting standards
• Understanding of macroeconomic trends and impact on Probability of Default estimates
• Self-starter with ability to manage workload and meet turnaround times

Responsibilities

• Analyze and underwrite exposures based on financial statements and predictive models
• Participate in development and maintenance of credit strategies, processes, and procedures
• Discuss with customers to understand financial position and facilitate credit decisions
• Conduct periodic reviews to manage the risk profile
• Communicate with senior risk management to reach credit decisions
• Complete financial spreading when necessary
• Learn and utilize programming languages to improve portfolio efficiency
