Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Mesa, AZ is seeking a production operator to join our manufacturing teams. You will monitor bar in beds, perform pass changes, maintain clean work areas, and uphold safety standards in a 12-hour shift.

We value teamwork, reliability, and the ability to adapt to high-temperature, dusty environments. This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional overtime, and a proactive approach to cost control and waste reduction.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced steel fabrication environment.
• Ability to follow safety rules and use PPE.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime.

Responsibilities

• Know current condition of bar on bed and related speed/QTB implications.
• Prepare for pass changes, box changes and repairs during downtime.
• Maintain focus on cost, waste reduction and housekeeping.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and well maintained.
• Work safely following safety rules and wearing PPE.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge and teamwork.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold Safety Culture.
• Perform daily housekeeping and area duties.
• Stand for long shifts; perform frequent walking/climbing.
• Work 12-hour shifts with overtime, weekends and holidays.

What You'll Do

• Know at all times current condition of bar going on bed, know physicals, and their relation to speed and QTB


• Prepare for pass changes, box changes and repairs etc during any down time


• Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease waste and cost


• Ensure work areas and equipment are kept clean and well maintained


• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE


• Ability to troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others


• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture


• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area


• Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift


• Must be able to work a 12 hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends and holidays

• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces

Your Education
