Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is hiring for a role at our Mesa, AZ site. The position offers opportunities to learn in the steel reinforcement and construction industries, with training and support from the team to help you grow in your career.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current condition of bar on bed and related equipment.
• Prepare for pass changes, box changes, and repairs during downtime.
• Focus on reducing waste and costs while maintaining clean, secure work areas.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and communication with others.
• Complete daily housekeeping duties and maintain workspace.
• Follow safety rules and use PPE to prevent injuries.

What You'll Do

• Know at all times current condition of bar going on bed, know physicals, and their relation to speed and QTB
• Prepare for pass changes, box changes and repairs etc during any down time
• Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease waste and cost
• Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
• Ability to troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
• Must be able to work a 12 hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends and holidays
• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture

What You'll Need

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Some overtime will be required
