Job summary

Graphic Packaging International is seeking a capable packaging operator in a union environment. The role focuses on setting up and operating straight-line gluers to produce folded and glued cartons, while monitoring feed, glue, and quality conformance.

You will record materials use in SAP/PEAK and assist with maintenance and safety compliance. This position requires 2–5 years of manufacturing experience, with ability to work various shifts.

Job Details

Shift/Hours: Schedules are up to 12-hour shifts Mondays – Fridays and 8-hour shifts on Saturdays. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

Position Type: Union role; Will join union after 60 day probationary period.

Benefits: Offered after 60 days of employment.

Time Off: One week after 60-day probationary period, pro-rated based on hire date.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Sets up and operates straight-line gluers and related peripheral / supporting equipment for the purpose of manufacturing folded and glued cartons.
  • Stacks box blanks in feed mechanism.
  • Observes automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of box blanks to detect machine malfunctions.
  • Inspects completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work order specifications and adjust machinery as necessary to correct variations.
  • Packs finished product (kick) into corrugate boxes; Palletizes finished product; Prints labels.
  • Keeps daily time and materials usage reports and records information in SAP and PEAK.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance; Disassembles machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, using hand tools.
  • Installs and adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to box blank dimensions and work order specifications, using hand tools; moves controls to regulate tension on pressure rolls, to synchronize speed of machine components, and to adjust pressure of the glue; adjusts machine controls to correct variations; monitors pressure of the glue.
  • Assist temporary employees with understanding task assignments while Reinforcing SQF standards and Graphic Packaging International’s core values.
  • Report in person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Keep building in clean and orderly condition, to complete the plant wide painting schedule and to assist in the SQF Audits while maintaining SQF standards.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
