Job summary

United States Steel is seeking a Shift Manager - Electrical Maintenance to oversee electrical maintenance activities, troubleshoot operational issues, and drive reliability improvements. You will supervise technicians, craftsmen, and planners to repair and maintain equipment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.

The role requires coordinating safety practices, interpreting blueprints, and developing preventive maintenance plans while managing costs and schedules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years work experience supervising crews in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including extended workdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Preferred: experience supervising unionized employees or military leadership.

Responsibilities

• Administer the safety program to ensure a safe work environment.
• Directly supervise electrical maintenance union employees and coordinate with vendors/contractors.
• Interpret specifications and blueprints, assign duties accordingly.
• Coordinate maintenance crews and activities across teams.
• Assist workers in diagnosing machinery and equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain inventories of spares for efficient operations.
• Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with maintenance staff.
• Develop and follow preventative maintenance programs and cost-saving strategies.
• Perform scheduling, reporting, and safety conversations as required.
