Job summary

Materion is seeking a Machine Operator II for Finishing/Conditioning Grade 2 on the 3rd shift (Sat-Fri, 10:30pm - 7:00am) to improve surface condition of rolled products and operate finishing equipment. You will set up leveling machines and shears, assist in rolling mills, and ensure products meet Class 1 specifications.

The role requires basic math, reading specifications, and a mechanical mindset, with potential licensing for forklift and overhead cranes.

Qualifications

• High School or Vocational School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of production experience in manufacturing.
• Basic math skills required for job functions.
• Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude; machining experience is a plus.
• May require forklift, overhead crane license and lockout/tagout certification.

Responsibilities

• Sands or grinds rolled materials to remove surface imperfections and meet product specifications.
• Sets up and operates leveling equipment.
• Sets up and operates shears to ensure final product meets dimensional specs.
• Assists as needed in handling material at rolling mills under supervision.
• Follows safety PPE requirements and environmental policies.
• Interprets specifications and uses measuring instruments with assistance.
• Identifies problems and seeks assistance to resolve.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
