Job summary

Norsk Hydro in Yankton, SD is hiring for a permanent production role in Fab. The position runs night shifts and offers a starting pay of $18/hour, a $500 sign-on bonus, and a night differential of $2/hour. Eligible for monthly profit sharing and company match retirement plans.

You'll load extrusions, support operators, and uphold safe, efficient production processes while working in a fast-paced environment. Training is provided and overtime is possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to work 8,10,12 hours rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks while standing.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement, sponsor, and support continuous reliability improvements.
• Communicate effectively within the production team wheel.
• Unload finished products and follow packaging instructions.
• Assist Fabrication Equipment Operators by loading extrusions into processing equipment.
• Willing to train and take on additional duties as needed.
• Assist neighboring departments as required and handle short lengths over 50 feet.

Starting Rate of pay: $18/hour

$500 sign-on bonus

+$2/hour for night shift differential

Eligible for monthly profit sharing. (With profit sharing. earnings can increase by -$1.50-$3.00/hour)

Shift Available and Hours:

6:30pm-6:30am, Monday - Thursday

7:30pm-5:30am, Monday - Thursday

What you will be doing

• Implement, sponsor, and support all continuous reliability improvement standards and practices.


• Responsible to communicate in the production team wheel.


• Responsible for unloading finished products may include specific packaging requests that will be completed according to detailed instructions.


• Assist Fabrication Equipment Operators by loading extrusions into processing equipment including saws, punch presses, and rolling machines.


• Willing to train.


• From time to time, responsible to assist neighboring production deparments and with duties associated in those areas.


• Will be required to work with small sections in short cut lengths, to material more than 50 feet.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:

• Ability to work 8,10,12 hours rotating shift depending on shift availability, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.


• Ability to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks while standing for extended periods.


• Ability to perform basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)


• Ability to read and use a tape measure.


• Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred


• Previous management experience in fast-paced, manufacturing environment is preferred.


• Ability to perform basic computer application skills.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
