Thornwillow is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our press room team in Newburgh, NY. The role encompasses learning traditional pressroom operations, letterpress printing, plate making, engraving, and binding, with on-site training and mentorship.

We value mechanical curiosity and a commitment to craftsmanship. Training begins with a 3–6 month period at $160/day, with increases based on performance and responsibility. Positions are on-site in Newburgh, NY.

• Mechanically inclined with an interest in how machines work.
• Patient, methodical, and attentive to detail.

• Eager to learn and receptive to instruction.
• Interested in books, traditional craftsmanship, and fine printing.

Responsabilités

• Learn traditional pressroom operations and develop into a skilled craftsperson.
• Learn the arts of letterpress printing, plate making, engraving, die cutting, and binding techniques.
• Operate Heidelberg cylinder presses and other traditional production equipment.
• Maintain records and assist with project planning and production workflow.
• Ensure quality and participate in quality control of finished editions.
• Keep the studio organized and tools properly stored.
