Thornwillow Press, Ltd. in Newburgh, NY is seeking a Book Binder to join our bindery. We perform all fine bookbinding in-house, including folding, sewing, cloth and leather bindings, and box making, with training provided for enthusiastic candidates.

The role is on-site in Newburgh, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:30 to 5:30. The initial training period runs about 3–6 months at $160/day, with increases based on performance and responsibility.

Qualifications

• Experience is not required; training will be provided.
• Ability to work with hands and learn craft skills.
• Enthusiasm, patience and determination with a love of books.
• Reliable commute to Newburgh, NY.

Responsibilities

• Becoming familiar with techniques used at the press and learn to master the craft.
• Delivering top-quality work efficiently and on schedule.
• Updating project reports and schedules.
• Maintaining component inventories.
• Maintaining production workflow and procedures.
• Managing project planning, scheduling and organization.
• Finding ways to improve quality and productivity by modifying workflow and equipment use.
• Training new and less skilled team members.
• Assisting with quality control, packing and shipping during crunch periods.
