Job summary

The New School in New York City is seeking an Assistant Director for Financial Advocacy to lead proactive financial wellness initiatives and manage the university’s Emergency Assistance Program. You will work with campus partners, advise students, and help remove financial barriers to enrollment.

This in-person role requires collaboration with Student Support and Advocacy leadership, on-call response duties, and a commitment to equity and student success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of work experience related to the position.
  • Strong administrative, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and a continuing commitment to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice practices in support of a diverse community.
  • Previous experience with student crisis response and/or service in an on-call capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in financial advocacy, advising, and campus program administration.
  • Leads financial wellness initiatives and manages the Emergency Assistance Program budget.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for off-campus student emergencies and crisis response.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to develop, implement, and assess resources for student support services.
  • Supervises staff and coordinates training across faculty, staff, and student leaders on financial literacy and support services.
  • Engages in crisis intervention and referral networks to support students facing financial hardship.
