Job summary

New York University seeks a Student Advocacy Program Administrator to join the Office of Student Advocacy. You will provide front-line support to students facing personal, medical, academic, and engagement challenges, triage concerns, and coordinate short-term academic support with faculty.

The role leads wellness and inclusion programming, plans orientation and commencement events, and manages essential communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area is required.
  • 2+ years professional experience in academic settings; experience in student affairs, counseling, supervision or public health.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial issues and barriers faced by STEM/Engineering students; understanding of underrepresented groups.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to student advocacy and belonging/inclusion; cultural humility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support to students navigating personal, medical, academic, and engagement-related challenges.
  • Triage concerns and escalate complex cases to the Assistant Director.
  • Plan and implement departmental and school-wide initiatives.
  • Coordinate undergraduate and graduate orientation, transitional programming, commencement activities, and student engagement events.
  • Design and facilitate at least one wellness, sexual health, or self-efficacy program each semester.
  • Maintain knowledge of campus resources to guide and refer students.
