FINANCIAL SERVICES SPECIALIST

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Salary: $45,306.98 - $59,874.26

Job Summary:

This recruitment will establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies over the life of the list.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of highly responsible general accounting functions, including accounts payable, travel, general ledger, and monthly reconciliation of purchasing cards (P-Card) and/or sales/use tax.
  • Prepare journal entries for payments, deposits, and reclassifying expenditures or revenues between funding sources.
  • Monitor and track financial information.
  • Administer support functions related to employee travel.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Resolve problems within the assigned functions.

Supervision is received from a Financial Services Supervisor, an Administrative Services Officer, or a Financial Services Manager. This is a competitive classification.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of general accounting experience, or
  • Thirty (30) semester hours of accounting, business, or related courses from an accredited college or university, which may substitute for the experience.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Office setting.

Progression:

Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Complete an examination process.
  • Pass a polygraph and background investigation.
  • Support a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing.
  • If the position requires driving, a valid Driver’s License is required.
  • All new hires must complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after 27 weeks. The ASRS provides lifelong income upon retirement. Voluntary deferred compensation options are available.
