Job summary

Sacramento State is seeking a Financial Representative to support students, faculty, and staff with Campus ID Card services and financial transactions in the Bursar’s Office. Under the Associate Bursar and University Cashier, you will handle cashiering tasks, payments, refunds, and account work.

The role requires accurate record-keeping, clear policy explanations, and teamwork in a university setting. Experience in student services and confidentiality is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1. Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer service in a fast-paced office, financial, student services, or higher education environment.
  • 2. Ability to professionally assist a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • 3. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain financial processes, policies, and procedures.
  • 4. Ability to handle sensitive or complex situations with professionalism, tact, and discretion.
  • 5. Experience processing financial transactions, payments, refunds, deposits, or reconciliations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • 6. Ability to identify and resolve account discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
  • 7. Experience using financial systems, cashiering systems, databases, or student information systems.
  • 8. Ability to quickly learn University systems, ID Card systems, and office technologies.
  • 9. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a busy operational environment.
  • 10. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • 11. Ability to work collaboratively with campus departments, external partners, and coworkers to support departmental goals and improve service delivery.
  • 12. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
  • 13. Experience assisting or advising students regarding admissions, registration, financial aid, or related student services.
  • 14. Ability to explain processes and guide individuals through complex procedures.
  • 15. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, policies, and technologies while maintaining a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • 16. Demonstrated initiative in improving processes, supporting special projects, or contributing to operational enhancements.
  • 17. Ability to handle confidential financial and student information responsibly and in compliance with institutional policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students, faculty, and staff with Campus ID Card (OneCard) services and campus financial needs.
  • Advise students on admission, financial aid, and registration status as needed.
  • Process financial transactions, payments, refunds, deposits, and reconciliations with accuracy and care.
  • Maintain and reconcile financial records; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Learn and use University systems, ID Card systems, and cashiering tools effectively.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to improve service delivery and support departmental goals.
