About Landmark Aquatic
Landmark Aquatic is a leading provider of commercial aquatic construction, renovation, and maintenance services. We operate across multiple geographic hubs, deliver work nationwide, and are in an active growth phase, including both organic expansion and M&A activity. Our finance team plays a critical role in shaping strategy, supporting operations, and driving data-informed decision-making across the organization.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-caliber finance professional who has built a strong analytical foundation in investment banking, private equity, or Big 4 accounting, and is now ready to apply those skills in a dynamic, operationally-focused environment. This is a unique chance to move out of a transactional or audit-driven role and into a position where you will have real ownership over the financial story of a growing private equity-backed business.
You will report directly to the CFO and serve as the primary owner of FP&A — building and maintaining financial models, leading the budgeting and forecasting cycle, supporting M&A diligence, and delivering clear, actionable reporting to executive leadership and the board. This role balances structured, recurring deliverables (monthly reporting packages, covenant reporting, etc.) with high-impact analytical work (labor planning, scenario modeling, strategic initiatives, etc.).
Core Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the annual budgeting process, including coordination across departments with various department heads and branch managers.
- Build and maintain a rolling 12-month forecast updated monthly, incorporating actuals, operational KPIs, and management assumptions.
- Partner with the accounting team to perform monthly close variance analysis — P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow — with clear, concise commentary for management.
- Develop and maintain long-range financial models to support strategic planning and scenario analysis.
Management & Board Reporting
- Prepare a polished, consistent monthly reporting package for executive leadership covering financial performance, operational highlights, and KPI dashboards.
- Lead the preparation of quarterly board of directors materials, including financial summaries, business updates, and forward-looking commentary.
- Build and maintain reporting templates that reduce manual effort and improve the reliability of recurring deliverables.
Business Case & Decision Support
- Build financial models to evaluate new service lines, geographic expansion, capital investments, workforce changes, and other strategic initiatives.
- Serve as the financial thought partner to operations leaders by translating business questions into analytical frameworks and presenting findings clearly.
- Champion data-driven decision-making by developing KPIs and tracking mechanisms for strategic and operational initiatives.
Labor Planning & Operational Analytics
- Partner with HR and operations to develop and maintain a labor planning model that aligns staffing levels with revenue forecasts and project pipelines.
- Analyze workforce cost drivers, utilization rates, and overtime trends; develop actionable recommendations for management.
- Support operational process improvements by building tools and dashboards that surface meaningful insights from field-level data.
Lender & Covenant Reporting
- Prepare periodic financial statements and compliance certificates required by lenders, including fixed charge coverage ratios, leverage ratios, and other covenant metrics.
- Maintain a covenant tracking schedule and proactively flag potential compliance risks to the CFO.
M&A Transaction Support
- Support the CFO in evaluating acquisition targets, including financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, and integration planning.
- Build acquisition models and scenario analyses to support bid decisions and post-close integration planning.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams during integration to ensure acquired companies are incorporated into reporting and forecasting processes on a timely basis.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or Big 4 public accounting (audit or transaction advisory). Candidates from other highly analytical finance backgrounds will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Advanced financial modeling skills. Comfortable building complex models from scratch in Excel, not just editing pre‑formatted templates.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial reporting or BI tools (Anterra, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This role requires translating numbers into narratives for both financial and non‑financial audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal oversight.
- High degree of intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in learning the operational details of the business.
Preferred
- CPA, CFA, or MBA (or currently pursuing).
- Experience with Sage 300CRE, Salesforce Field Services, Procore, or other construction/field‑service ERP platforms.
- Familiarity with percent‑of‑completion accounting or project‑based revenue recognition.
- Prior FP&A, corporate finance, or business intelligence experience in a services or construction‑adjacent business.
- Experience working in or with companies that have lender / private equity relationships requiring periodic covenant reporting.
- Ability to write code in Python/SQL.
Who Thrives in This Role
This position is an excellent fit for someone who:
- Ready to leave behind the rigid structure of banking or Big 4 and take real ownership of work that directly influences business decisions.
- Finds equal satisfaction in executing a clean, accurate monthly reporting package as in building a sophisticated multi‑year model.
- Communicates proactively and does not need to be followed up with. Important to flag issues early, deliver on time, and ask smart questions.
- Thrives in a lean environment where resourcefulness and initiative matter more than headcount.
