Position: FP&A Manager

Location: New York, New York

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $140,000–$155,000 + Bonus + PS

Position Overview

We’re partnering with an established consumer-focused organization in NYC that is looking to add an FP&A Manager to its finance team.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who has built their career within FP&A and is ready for a role with real visibility across the business. The FP&A Manager will lead financial planning and analysis across a multi-channel retail operation spanning e-commerce, wholesale, and brick-and-mortar, partnering closely with finance leadership as well as commercial and operational teams.

The role goes well beyond maintaining a budget. You’ll own and improve forecasting, analyze sales and margin performance, build financial models that connect operating activity to P&L results, and help leadership understand not only what is happening in the business, but why it is happening and what to do about it.

Just as importantly, this is an organization that invests in and rewards its people. It is a fast-moving environment with high expectations, but not the type of company where strong performers simply get asked to do more without recognition. Performance and compensation are reviewed semiannually, bonuses are paid twice per year, and this role is also eligible for semiannual profit sharing.

The ideal candidate is proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable translating complex financial data into clear recommendations for senior leadership.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Own key components of the full FP&A cycle, including annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and monthly financial analysis.
  • Lead weekly reforecasting using driver-based models, identifying emerging risks, opportunities, and changes in business performance.
  • Build and maintain integrated financial models connecting operational metrics, sales activity, margin performance, and profitability to P&L outcomes.
  • Analyze financial and operating performance, identify trends and variances, and help leadership understand the drivers behind the numbers.
  • Partner with Accounting during the monthly close process, including support around reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Serve as a key FP&A business partner to commercial and operational leadership, improving financial visibility and supporting better business decisions.
  • Support sales, margin, and profitability planning across e-commerce, wholesale, and brick-and-mortar channels.
  • Develop financial models, reporting, and analyses that translate complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting, templates, and overall FP&A processes.
  • Manage and mentor an FP&A Analyst, supporting professional growth and continued development of the finance team.
  • Present financial findings, business trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead or support finance-related projects, including system implementations, financial software upgrades, and cross-functional process improvements.
Required Experience / Skills

This team is much more interested in seeing a strong career story than simply finding someone who checks every box. They want to see progression, increasing responsibility, and evidence that you have been trusted with more as your career has developed.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • A track record of increasing responsibility and advancement throughout your career.
  • Experience within retail, consumer products, e-commerce, or another multi-channel business, with exposure to sales and margin planning.
  • Professional services experience within Big 4, consulting, or financial advisory.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, with familiarity with Copilot, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, including accrual accounting.
  • The ability to translate financial information into a business story that makes sense to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to and influence senior executives.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meaningful tenure within at least one organization where you've had the opportunity to grow, take on additional responsibility, and make an impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA.
  • Experience with financial system implementations or software upgrades.
  • Prior project management experience involving cross-functional finance initiatives.
  • Experience improving or streamlining FP&A processes, reporting, and forecasting tools.
  • Strong commercial instincts and business acumen within a retail or consumer environment.
  • Ability to turn complex financial data into clear executive-level narratives and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with ERP and financial planning systems.
  • Additional training or continuing education in financial modeling, data analytics, leadership, or team management.

If eligible under the ACA, medical, dental and vision benefits and time off in accordance with local paid sick time laws will be offered. Additional benefits may include paid holidays, a 401(k)-retirement plan, life insurance, disability coverage, and an employee assistance program, where applicable. Other compensation programs may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
