Job summary

Shoe Carnival, Inc. seeks a Financial Analyst I to join its FP&A team at the corporate office. You will help develop store-level analytics and forecasting to support budgets and strategic initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Finance/Accounting/Economics (MBA a plus) and 0–3 years in FP&A, with strong Excel and data-visualization skills (Power BI/Tableau). Excellent communication to present to finance and non-finance audiences is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field required; MBA a plus.
• 0-3 years FP&A or financial analyst experience.
• Proficient Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to present findings to finance and non-finance audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining store-level P&L analysis across banners, regions and locations.
• Analyze sales and expense trends and identify performance drivers.
• Update financial models for tactical and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare management reporting packages, monthly forecasts, KPI dashboards and leadership presentations.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and collaborate with functional leaders.
• Analyze variances to budget/forecast and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Support earnings materials and investor presentations; handle ad hoc requests.
• Continuously improve reporting processes and automate analyses.

You'll contribute to a variety of key functions, getting a rich, in-depth look at store level reporting and budgets within a retail giant.

The department of Financial Planning and Analysis conducts quantitative analyses of information affecting budgets, expenses, and other financial projects using consolidated data from various departments to provide an overview of the financial status of operations. The Financial Analyst I will help prepare store-level analytics using comparable sales analysis and financial modeling.

• Assist in maintaining store-level P&L analysis, tracking performance across banners, regions and individual locations
• Analyze sales and expense trends and identify performance drivers.
• Update financial models for tactical and strategic initiatives.
• Assist in preparing management reporting packages, monthly forecasting packages, KPI dashboards, and executive leadership presentation materials.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, partnering with functional leaders to develop realistic plans.
• Analyze variances to budget and forecast, providing clear explanations and actionable insights to leadership.
• Support earnings materials, investor presentations, and ad hoc requests from executive leadership.
• Continuously improve reporting processes, automate recurring analyses, and enhance data quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field required. MBA is a plus.
• 0-3 years FP&A, financial analyst or related experience.
• Proficient Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Experienced with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy or similar) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills - ability to present findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
