Job summary

Shelter Insurance Companies is seeking a Financial Operations Specialist I in Missouri to balance and reconcile bank accounts, investigate discrepancies, and assist with accounting tasks across multiple Shelter Companies. You will prepare reports, ensure policy compliance, and support financial operations.

The role requires strong analytical skills, report-building ability, and proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and Workday.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand computer applications and reports to determine out-of-balance conditions and construct various types of reports.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate with Accountants, IS Accounting team and others in the Company.
• Ability to accept supervision, follow instructions and work in a harmonious manner with co-workers, supervisors, and outside personnel.
• Experience in Outlook, Teams, Excel, Adobe, Access, Workday, and Mainframe.
• Ability to maintain schedules and work well with others.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Balance and reconcile bank accounts, cash transaction reports, unprocessed cash slips, and agents leased offices for all Shelter Companies.
• Investigate problems and out-of-balance conditions, taking corrective action with banks, agents, vendors, auditors, and other departments.
• Audit disbursement requests and expense reports for compliance with company policies.
• Create travel management reports as requested.
• Process personal property reports in 12 states.
• Assist Accountants with accounting function activities.
• Analyze statistical data for preparation of management and statutory reports.

Financial Operations Specialist I

$21.08 – $26.14 minimum starting pay

Job Level: Individual Contributor

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position

What You Will Be Doing

Balance and reconcile bank accounts, cash transaction reports, unprocessed cash slips, and agents leased offices for all Shelter Companies. Investigate problems and out-of-balance conditions, taking corrective action with banks, agents, vendors, auditors, and other departments. Audit disbursement requests and expense reports for compliance with company policies. Create travel management reports as requested. Process personal property reports in 12 states. Assist Accountants with accounting function activities. Analyze statistical data for preparation of management and statutory reports.

Due to the duties and responsibilities of this position, a Credit Bureau Report may be ordered on final candidates.
