Qualifications

• 1+ years of underwriting or relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• For Management Liability positions, a working knowledge of financial statements and analysis.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to self-direct, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Takes initiative on projects and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating, prioritizing and selecting submissions to be underwritten.
• Identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls.
• Analyzing claims and quantifying losses.
• Adhering to underwriting guidelines to minimize exposure and price risks.
• Ensuring underwriting files and services standards are adhered to on assigned accounts.
• Offering coverage and terms which generate a profit while meeting customer needs.
• Capturing market intelligence and broker feedback.
• Demonstrating technical product knowledge in Financial Lines.
• Demonstrating business acumen, financial and analytical skills for sound decisions.
• Negotiating and building collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Balancing changing priorities and managing a high volume of work.
• Collaborating with senior underwriters on complex risks.
• Selling and negotiating to support profitability.
• Presenting risk appetite and value proposition to brokers/clients.
• Developing producer strategies and submission pipelines.
