Job Summary

The Financial Institutions Examiner conducts on-site examinations of banks and other financial institutions to assess the safety, soundness, and regulatory compliance. The position analyzes financial condition, identifies risks, prepares examination reports, and serves as Examiner in Charge on less complex financial institutions.

This posting will be used to fill two (2) vacancies.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience performing analysis, exercising judgment, and relying on knowledge in financial analysis, auditing, risk management, banking, or financial institution examination/supervision within the financial services industry. Experience in the financial services industry includes roles within or overseeing banks or credit unions.

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.

An Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above education/experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Experience leading, assigning, scheduling, and directing the work activities of others.
  • Experience writing and presenting findings, with a strong ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured reports.
  • Experience analyzing the financial condition and risk profile of financial institutions, including capital, asset quality, management, earnings, liquidity, and sensitivity to market risk.
  • Knowledge of statutes, rules, regulations and interpretive rulings pertaining to financial institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as an Examiner in Charge or leading financial institution examinations, audits, or similar reviews.
  • Experience evaluating asset quality and credit risk, including reviewing and classifying loans.
  • Experience conducting safety and soundness examinations of financial institutions.
  • Experience applying state and federal banking laws and regulations in a financial institution examination, audit, compliance, or regulatory environment.
  • Experience preparing examination or similar reports and presenting findings and recommendations to financial institution management and/or Boards of Directors.
  • Experience providing training, technical guidance, or work direction to other examiners or professional staff.
Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
