Job description

Financial Innovation & Regulation Associate (DC or NY)

Steptoe LLP seeks an associate with 3-4 years of financial regulatory experience to join the Firm's Financial Innovation & Regulation practice, part of the Government Affairs and Public Policy group, in our Washington, DC or New York office.

The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of financial regulatory experience and an interest in developing a broad-based regulatory practice. The associate will work closely with partners who advise banks, fintech companies, and other financial services clients across a wide range of regulatory matters, including banking, consumer finance, payments, commodities and derivatives, and securities. Familiarity with financial technology and digital asset regulatory issues is preferred. Prior law firm experience is strongly preferred.

This role offers the opportunity to develop a broad and well-rounded financial regulatory practice, work across multiple areas of financial services regulation, and assume increasing responsibility while collaborating closely with partners and clients.

Candidates must have excellent academic credentials and strong writing and analytical skills. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required, along with admission to the New York or DC Bar, active and in good standing.

We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial environment that emphasizes training and mentorship. The anticipated salary range is $260,000 to $310,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.

Steptoe offers a full range of benefits for you and your eligible dependents. Benefits currently include: medical, dental, vision, life, disability, dependent care, health care flexible spending accounts, 401K Plan, Profit-Sharing, Paid Time-Off and a robust Wellness Program.
