Job summary

Texas Health Dallas is seeking a PRN Financial Counselor in the Patient Access Services department. This role requires understanding of patient insurance, financial responsibilities, and available assistance programs.

The counselor provides cost estimates, sets up payment plans, and assists with financial aid applications while coordinating with clinical teams to prevent delays in care. Strong emphasis on compassionate communication and collaboration with hospital teams.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CHAA certification preferred upon hire.
  • CPI training required within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Helps patients understand their insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and available assistance programs in a compassionate and clear way.
  • Provides accurate cost estimates, set up payment plans, and assist with financial assistance applications.
  • Identifies potential coverage gaps and educates patients about their financial options before services are rendered.
  • Verifies insurance benefits and ensures pre-authorization requirements are met before scheduled services.
  • Assists patients with Medicaid applications, financial assistance forms, and public assistance programs.
  • Collaborates with clinical teams and patient navigators to ensure financial processes do not delay care.

Here’s What You Need
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of collections experience preferred
  • 2 years of hospital admissions experience preferred
  • CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate preferred upon hire

What You Will Do
