Job summary

Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH) is seeking a Financial Counselor to work with the Revenue Cycle Team. You will assist with patient admissions, discuss financial options, validate insurance, and coordinate billing and collections for both inpatient and outpatient accounts.

Responsibilities include managing self-pay balances, verifying coverage, and supporting front desk operations as needed while collaborating with medical staff and insurers.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding helpful. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing.
• Minimum of two years of healthcare billing and insurance knowledge
• English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Arranges patient admission to facility and interviews incoming patients or relatives to obtain pertinent data and verify insurance coverage.
• Provides financial options to patients and authorized family members prior to admission.
• Maintains patient valuables and safekeeping during stay.
• Sets up payment arrangements with self-pay patients and collects co-payments where applicable.
• Interfaces with reception and handles front desk coverage as needed.
• Keeps knowledge of third-party payers, Medi-Cal TAR processes, billing requirements, and reimbursement methods.
• Displays knowledge of medical terminology and charity care processing.
• Reports timely on appropriate accounts and analyzes daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Communicates effectively with team and hospital staff to ensure smooth Revenue Cycle operations.
