Job Description

Serves as the primary contact to educate families and the community about financial assistance and charity care programs, health insurance exchange, or alternative insurance programs as appropriate. Conducts all interactions to ensure a positive patient experience and appropriate reimbursement for services. Works with team members to provide quality service, support safe patient care, and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience
  • Experience in social services or public assistance programs, including personal contact with clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree
  • Experience in healthcare financial counseling
  • Fluency in Spanish or another foreign language
  • Certifications such as CPAR, CHAA, or CFC
Education
  • High school diploma or GED and any state-specific training and examination requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility for financial assistance programs.
  • Monitor follow-up work queues and maintain documentation.
  • Identify available financial aid programs and their requirements.
  • Use effective communication to reduce patient and family anxieties.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and hospital personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
