ABOUT OUR TEAM

We are a remote-first team that sits across Europe and North America and come together once a month in-person for 3 days and over longer offsites twice a year.

The people, finance and ops team is not an overhead team, we’re commercially oriented and are delivering products where poolside is our customer and our team are our users.

On the front end, we are very conscious of the UX/UI – we aim to create processes and select tools that are easy to use and will boost productivity and collaboration.

On the back end, we are a highly knowledgeable team who prioritizes automation and builds for scalability. We will improve and update our processes, tools and materials as we grow, taking into account the team's ongoing feedback and data.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a high-impact role and an opportunity to establish yourself as our financial controller, with the opportunity to grow as the company grows.

YOUR MISSION

Your mission is to guarantee spotless execution in financial reporting and financial operations. As such, you will be the company's primary expert on technical accounting topics. You will ensure flawless day-to-day operations and lay the groundwork for strategic initiatives. You will be a facilitator for the entire organization.

You'll work primarily with Matthieu, Lauren, and Margarida, but you'll also interact with the People, Ops and Sales teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Own all aspects of our financial information and guarantee its accuracy (rev rec, COGS, OpEx, balance sheet accounts)
2. Work closely with external service providers (accountants, auditors, tax advisors, etc.) to ensure your mission is fulfilled
3. Be responsible for our financial systems (NetSuite, Ramp, Gusto, Payfit, etc.)
4. Manage complex financial transactions (stock-based compensation, transfer pricing arrangements, and shareholder loans)
5. Close the books in a timely manner and prepare internal and external reporting with Matthieu
6. Monitor statutory requirements, obligations, and compliance
7. Complete recurring analyses (month-to-month variance analysis, account balance review)
8. Track and analyze payroll costs in conjunction with Beatriz, our Head of People
9. Carry out poolside financial operations (bill and payroll payments, cash monitoring, and cash management)
10. Support strategic initiatives and FP&A activities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We have a few mandatory requirements:

1. You have a CPA and prior experience in audit, which gave you a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP
2. You have worked with NetSuite in the past and have an advanced knowledge of the tool
3. Your primary place of work will be located between CST and EST timezones
4. You've demonstrated the ability to build relationships and work effectively with external providers/clients/third parties in the past
5. You are hardworking, rigorous, obsessed with accuracy and you hate mistakes
6. You are a self-starter with a scrappy, solution-oriented mindset
7. You are a strong communicator and thrive on simplifying complex problems and making them understandable to others
8. You are a team player and enjoy the back-and-forth between taking ownership of your workstreams and collaborating with the rest of the team
9. You are passionate about the topics you’ll cover and you get satisfaction from acquiring new/deeper knowledge about them
10. A previous experience in deep tech, software or infrastructure industries is a plus
11. A basic knowledge of French GAAP is a plus
