  • Support the development and maintenance of financial dashboards and KPIs to provide actionable insights into business performance.
  • Responsible for regular accounting tasks in the organization. These tasks include preparing and managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, and regularly updating the accounting system. This includes recording revenue, expenses, and monthly and yearly adjusting journal entries.
  • Responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting team in tax preparation and filing and communicating with the external CPA firm as needed.
  • Lead the preparation of the company’s annual budget, recurring company forecasts, and variance of each compared to actuals in partnership with leadership. Recommend and implement KPIs used to evaluate company performance and financial health.
  • Conduct variance analysis and recommend strategies to improve financial performance and efficiency.
  • Lead the transition from cash-based to accrual-based accounting, including system updates and staff training.
Cash Flow Management
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure adequate liquidity for current and future operations.
  • Calculate and distribute timely, accurate royalty payments to authors and partners while maintaining clear records and ensuring compliance with contract terms.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee audits, tax filings, and other regulatory obligations. Responsible for maintaining audit-ready financial reporting.
  • Responsible for supporting sales tax compliance and state business tax compliance under the direction of company leadership.
  • Monitor and address financial risks, ensuring long-term stability and profitability.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a product-based company $10MM-$40MM in size.
  • Strong understanding of both cash and accrual accounting methods, inventory management, and technical accounting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero), advanced Excel skills, and ERP Systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
What We Offer:
  • A remote, dynamic, and creative work environment with a passionate team.
