Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead all aspects of our accounting operations, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data to support strategic decision-making across the organization. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Controller will oversee financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and team development.

This position is based full-time, on-site at our Southlake, TX headquarters. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and play a vital role in supporting Frog Street’s mission of fostering exceptional early learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations: Lead all daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, general ledger maintenance, subscription-based revenue calculations, royalty reporting, and capitalization of product development costs.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial statements and management reports to inform strategic business decisions.
• Financial Analysis: Provide actionable financial insights, including cost analysis, profitability assessments, and key performance metrics.
• Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal financial policies, and relevant regulatory requirements, including multi-state sales tax filings.
• Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal control processes to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Audit Management: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors during annual audits, coordinating preparation and submission of required documentation.
• Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and develop the Accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
• Deep expertise in GAAP standards, financial regulations, and compliance practices
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage 100, NetSuite, SAP)
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; adept at presenting complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
• Experience with revenue recognition models, subscription-based accounting, and transaction-based revenue streams is a plus
• Familiarity with multi-state sales tax filing and inventory/cost accounting is a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to meeting deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Must be located full-time, on-site at our Southlake, TX headquarters
