Base pay range

$110,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. They will work closely with firm leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analysis to support business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting practices.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and manage financial risk.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare tax filings and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to align financial goals with business strategy.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, and profitability.
Cash Flow & Financial Strategy:
  • Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
  • Optimize financial processes to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Provide leadership with financial insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Payroll & Accounts Management:
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Manage accounts payable, receivable, and project billing processes.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of projects.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, contracts, and tax requirements.
  • Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks affecting the firm.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably in an architecture, design, or professional services firm.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Deltek, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Experience managing teams and collaborating with senior leadership
