Qualifications

• Experience leading finance functions and teams at the controller level.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reporting, cash flow and working capital.
• ERP experience, ideally Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Responsibilities

• Financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance visibility.
• Cash flow, working capital, receivables, payables, and inventory-related financial insight.
• Day-to-day financial workflows, including billing, collections support, vendor coordination, banking activity, and transaction oversight.
• ERP and finance-side process improvement, including reducing manual work and improving data accuracy.
• Power BI reporting and dashboard development, working with internal resources and outside consultants as needed.
• Partnership with outside tax/accounting support to ensure accurate and timely financial processes.
• Cross-functional finance partnership with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership.

Midwest Retail Services is hiring a hands-on Finance Controller to lead our internal finance function and strengthen the financial visibility, reporting, systems, and operating rhythm of our growing business.

This is not a strategy-only role, and it is not a traditional accounting-only seat. MWRS has outside tax and accounting support, so this role is best suited for a finance leader who can own internal financial operations, partner with external accounting resources, improve reporting, and turn financial data into practical business insight.

The Finance Controller will sit on the Leadership Team and help guide decisions around revenue, margin, cash flow, working capital, inventory, receivables, payables, systems, and process improvement. Our internal Finance Team is small, so the right person must be comfortable moving between leadership-level analysis and hands-on execution.

Role Responsibilities

• Financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance visibility
• Cash flow, working capital, receivables, payables, and inventory-related financial insight
• Day-to-day financial workflows, including billing, collections support, vendor coordination, banking activity, and transaction oversight
• ERP and finance-side process improvement, including reducing manual work and improving data accuracy
• Power BI reporting and dashboard development, working with internal resources and outside consultants as needed
• Partnership with outside tax/accounting support to ensure accurate and timely financial processes
• Cross-functional finance partnership with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership

What we are looking for

• Prior experience in finance leadership, controller, finance manager, accounting manager, or a similar business finance role
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reporting, cash flow, working capital, receivables, payables, and business performance metrics
• Strong ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred
• Power BI exposure strongly preferred
• Ability to work in the details while also providing leadership-level insight
• Experience improving financial processes, reporting systems, or administrative workflows
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-finance leaders
