Job description

VP of Recruitment @ MAFÉ Resources | US Army Veteran

Path to Controller | Hospitality Industry

About the Role

We are a growing company in the hospitality space seeking a high-impact Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager who is ready to step into a Controller-level role over time. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, multi‑entity environments and is excited by the opportunity to build and scale an accounting function.

As part of this role, the individual will spend an initial period (approximately one month) based in the U.S. Virgin Islands to help establish and strengthen the accounting infrastructure and team on the ground. After this initial setup phase, the role will require occasional travel to support ongoing oversight across entities.

This position partners closely with executive leadership and plays a critical role in financial strategy, operational performance, and long‑term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the full accounting lifecycle across multiple entities, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, intercompany activity, and consolidations
  • Drive financial performance by overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis across business units
  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness
  • Prepare and review financial statements and external reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance internal controls, policies, and compliance procedures
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, financial modeling, KPI development, and cost optimization
  • Oversee cash flow planning, intercompany accounting, and coordination of tax filings with external advisors
  • Lead systems and process improvement initiatives, including reporting enhancements, automation, and ERP optimization
  • Build, mentor, and develop accounting team members as the department scales
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including multi‑entity environments and P&L ownership
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and guide a growing team
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred) and strong Excel or financial reporting tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial insights to non‑finance stakeholders
