Base pay range

$160,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr

Milk Studios Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for the company and its affiliates. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting background, strategic financial insight, and experience in high-growth environments.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
• Manage general ledger and journal entries, ensuring proper recording of transactions.
• Maintain current and detailed reconciliations of all accounts.
• Produce timely and accurate internal financial reports for senior management, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
• Work closely with executive leadership to support financial planning and strategic decision-making
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws
• Prepare tax filings and work with external auditors during the audit process.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely completion
• Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Optimize financial systems and workflows
• Support M&A activities, financial modeling, and due diligence, as needed
• Full-time role Monday through Friday at Milk Studios in Hollywood, CA

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and corporate finance principles
• Proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams
• Comprehensive understanding of California and New York state tax
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• 2+ references required
