• Act as a strategic financial partner to the leadership team, offering data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Design and implement long-term financial plans that align with the firm’s strategic initiatives.
• Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and partner compensation modeling, with ongoing quarterly updates and scenario analysis.
• Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reimbursements, and month-end close.
• Ensure full compliance with GAAP and legal industry accounting requirements.
• Manage the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain and monitor trust accounting, ensuring full compliance and proper handling of client funds.
• Oversee the firm’s billing operations, including timekeeping, invoicing, and e-billing, particularly for clients in IP-heavy sectors such as technology and life sciences.
• Collaborate with external accountants on tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews.
• Lead and develop a small but effective finance team, including staff focused on billing, accounts payable, and general accounting.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of law firm operations; prior experience in an IP-focused environment is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in trust fund management and compliance.
• Familiarity with IP billing practices.
• Proficiency with legal accounting and billing systems.
• Proven ability to manage complex budgets, financial planning cycles, and performance metrics.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
