Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Controller to join a dynamic manufacturing company in Greenville, SC. This role will play a significant role in overseeing the financial reporting and accounting operations of the company, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing budgeting and forecasting, and working closely with executive leadership to provide timely and accurate financial information.

This position offers an exciting near-term path to CFO.

Essential Duties & Functions
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or relevant accounting standards.
  • Lead the budgeting process and provide accurate forecasts based on financial data. Assist department heads with budget planning and variance analysis.
  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax filings and ensure adherence to tax regulations. Work closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure the company’s financial position remains strong. Advise senior management on liquidity, working capital, and other financial matters.
  • Coordinate and oversee the external audit process, ensuring the company’s financial records are accurate and audit-ready.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring high performance, professional growth, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with the Board, CEO and the Executive Management Team.
  • Maintain business insurance plans to ensure adequate coverage of the assets of the company.
  • Guide and develop the accounting team, manage work allocation, systems training, and performance evaluations.
  • Handle special projects and other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred, but not required
  • 10-15 years accounting experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP and IFRS
  • Background coordinating with IT staff to manage and/or upgrade accounting system. Systems implementation experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues
