Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and prepare financial statements per US GAAP and healthcare standards.
• Lead and develop the accounting team of accountants and billers.
• Oversee AR, AP, payroll, treasury, lease accounting, and fixed assets.
• Collaborate with operations to review revenue recognition and billing data.
• Support migration from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct and design COA.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax advisors; manage PBC and inquiries.
• Enhance internal controls and post-acquisition finance operations.
• Develop and report KPIs; support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.

About the Role

A healthcare services company is seeking a hands on Controller/Assistant Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role owns the accounting function end to end and leads a team of accountants and billers.

This is a strong fit for someone who wants ownership beyond a traditional accounting seat — the company is actively migrating from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct, and this role will help drive that transition alongside broader process improvement work.

What You'll Do

• Own the monthly close and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and healthcare reporting standards
• Lead and develop the accounting team — accountants and billers
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: AR, AP, payroll, treasury, lease accounting, and fixed assets
• Partner with operations and data teams on trip-level revenue recognition — reviewing billing data, invoicing, tracking collections, and reconciling revenue to payor and internal reports
• Support the Sage 50 to Sage Intacct migration, including data integrity, chart of accounts design, and process redesign
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors, leading PBC preparation, walkthroughs, and inquiry responses
• Strengthen internal controls and improve finance operations, particularly following acquisitions
• Develop and report on financial KPIs; support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, lender reporting, and cash flow planning

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• 7+ years of public and/or private accounting experience
• Healthcare services industry experience required; NEMT, provider billing, or payor-facing revenue experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, INDEX-MATCH/lookups, SUMIFS, dynamic schedules and reports)
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and consolidations
• Hands-on experience with Sage 50, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks Online; ERP implementation or migration experience a plus
• Demonstrated success improving processes and implementing internal controls
• Experience supervising and developing accounting staff
• Self-motivated and intellectually curious, comfortable in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities
