Job summary

Synergy Search in Brentwood, TN seeks a Controller to build a modern accounting function across multiple entities, including a NetSuite implementation led by a CFO.

Join early in a growth phase with strong investment in technology, systems, and infrastructure. You will own close processes, ASC 606/842 accounting, audits, and strategic finance partnerships with the CFO and board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Active CPA expected at this level.
• 3+ years Controller experience in healthcare revenue scale.
• Multi-site / multi-entity accounting experience.
• Experience with NetSuite implementation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual audit and coordinate external audits.

I am looking for a Controller to join a rapidly growing, investor-backed healthcare services organization with multi-state operations, scaling from roughly $250M toward $350M+ in revenue.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities, documenting the process with SOPs and driving toward a 10-business-day close
• Help lead the NetSuite implementation, including chart of accounts design, data migration, workflows, controls, and reporting
• Oversee healthcare revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contractual allowances, bad debt, payer mix, and AR reserves
• Build and own processes for key accruals, including self-insured medical, auto, and workers' comp (IBNR) and bonus accruals
• Establish ASC 842 lease accounting and fixed asset processes
• Design a tiered approval hierarchy, centralize AP, and strengthen purchasing controls and payment workflows
• Develop a monthly operating report with visibility at the market level
• Prepare management reporting packages for the CFO, leadership, board, and investors, and present as needed
• Lead the annual audit and coordinate lender, insurance, tax, and payer-related audits
• Partner with brokers, actuaries, and outside advisors on insurance renewals and reserve adequacy
• Support weekly cash flow reporting, budgeting, and liquidity planning with the CFO
• Support acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration
• Work closely with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate reimbursement accounting
• Lead, coach, and develop a lean accounting team as a hands-on player-coach

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Active CPA expected at this level
• 3+ years of recent Controller experience (5 preferred) at a healthcare organization of roughly $300M-$500M in revenue
• Experience at multiple healthcare organizations, ideally provider-side, with exposure to different accounting environments
• Track record helping scale a company through significant revenue growth
• Multi-site, multi-state, multi-entity accounting experience
• Private equity-backed experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with self-insured accruals, AR reserves, ASC 606, and ASC 842
• Proven success building close SOPs, approval hierarchies, and introducing automation
• Comfortable presenting to a board and investors
• NetSuite experience strongly preferred, ideally through an implementation
• Public accounting/audit background preferred (3-5 years)
• Must live within a daily commute of the Brentwood/Franklin, TN area
