Job summary

Serendipity Wines LLC in Austin, TX, seeks a hands-on Financial Controller to lead all accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role partners with executive leadership to drive performance, manage cash flow, and build a strong financial foundation for a growing national importer and distributor.

The ideal candidate will combine strong accounting expertise with strategic insight, with experience in distribution/wholesale and beverage-alcohol operations a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Active CPA certification (preferred)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller role.
• Experience in multi-state distribution, logistics, or wholesale environments strongly preferred; beverage-alcohol experience a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP/accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the geographically distributed accounting team, fostering accuracy and collaboration.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, logistics, sales, and brand management to align financial practices with business goals.
• Oversee HR and payroll functions, including annual evaluation of health insurance plans and compensation.
• Oversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and the General Ledger.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Oversee inventory valuation, cost accounting, and margin analysis specific to distribution operations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and KPIs to support sound decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and reporting requirements, including beverage-alcohol regulations.
• Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and insurance providers.

Position Summary

The Financial Controller will lead all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance across the organization. This individual will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership, helping drive operational performance, manage cash flow, and strengthen the company’s financial foundation.

Requirements

This position will mainly be in-office. Candidates MUST be able and available to work in-office within Austin, TX.

There will be a remote opportunity once a week. Please note, this position will not turn into a fully remote position.
