Job summary

The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT is seeking a dynamic Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) Coordinator to lead and expand our VITA program across Greater Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, and Windham. This role focuses on financial empowerment and helping families access tax credits and resources.

You will oversee program operations, recruit volunteers, ensure IRS site compliance, and build partnerships with community organizations to maximize impact.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Experience with VITA/EITC programs strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends during peak program periods.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic, bilingual Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) Coordinator to lead and expand our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program across Greater Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, and Windham. What You'll Do

As the FOC Coordinator, you will oversee all aspects of VITA program operations and growth while serving as a key liaison to community partners, municipalities, colleges, funders, volunteers, and stakeholders.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and expansion of the annual VITA/EITC campaign.
  • Coordinate multiple tax preparation sites and ensure compliance with IRS Quality Site Requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Financial Services, Business, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling at least four years will be considered.
