Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Financial Assessments & Benefits Officer to join the Financial Assessments & Benefits Team. You will carry out means-tested assessments to determine contributions toward care services, working across the county and with Adult Social Care colleagues.

The role is fast-paced and requires investigation for complex cases. Responsibilities include working within Care Act Charging Regulations, resolving routine issues, and visiting service users as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience carrying out means-tested assessments.
• Understanding of Care Act charging regulations.
• Ability to explain financial responsibilities to service users.

Responsibilities

• Complete financial assessments accurately and timely.
• Ensure charges comply with national legislation and local policies.
• Explain financial responsibilities to service users or representatives.
• Signpost to additional benefits or support as needed.
• Manage the Deferred Payment Scheme.
