Job summary

Virtua is seeking a finance professional to prepare monthly and annual financial statements and support analyses under GAAP. You will assist in delivering accurate reports and regulatory filings while supporting senior analysts and management.

This role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and the ability to analyze operating data and budgets. A BS in accounting/finance and strong Excel skills are required, with CPA/MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• Zero to three years in general accounting experience including financial statement preparation.
• Knowledge and understanding of accounting practice and theory, specifically GAAP.
• Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing Hospital and related Virtua Health Financial Statements with GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and analyze financial data: operating budget detail, statistics, revenue by payer, expenses, and balance sheets.
• Analyze financial data for Regulatory Agencies including IRS, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare/Medicaid.
• Support audit readiness through work papers and analysis for auditors.
• Provide financial analysis to managers for monitoring expenses, balance sheet, and capital projects.
• Collaborate to establish best practice standards for financial analysis and documentation.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Onsite for 5-6 weeks, then remote Thursdays and Fridays, and every other Tuesday.

Summary

Responsible for preparing monthly and annual financial statements, supporting analysis and supplemental schedules.

Assists in implementing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles on all financial statements.

Supports the Senior Financial Analysts and Finance Management Team in preparing for special projects.

Acts as a Finance representative on committees and at meetings as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

• Assists with preparing the Hospital and or related entity of Virtua Health Financial Statements with GAAP compliance. Including Service Group Analysis and Cash Flow Analysis, which are reviewed by Senior Management and Virtua Health Board of Trustees.
• Prepares and assists in the analysis of financial data. I.E. Operating budget detail, statistics, revenue by payer, expense, cash analysis, balance sheets and provides support to Operational Leadership.
• Assists in preparing and analyzing financial data for Regulatory Agencies including Federal and State. I.E. IRS 990 tax exempt return, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare, Medicaid, and State Cost Reports, Bond Compliance, AHA Surveys, etc.
• Assists in ensuring audit compliance through preparation of work papers and analysis for internal and external auditors.
• Provides financial analysis assistance to Managers in order for them to adequately monitor operating expenses, budgeting, balance sheet, capital expenditures and/or cost/benefit or other analysis of existing or proposed services with Decision Support System Tools.
• Collaborates with staff to create best practice standards for financial analysis and documentation.
