Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking an accounting professional to prepare monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. The role supports senior analytics, regulatory reporting, and the finance management team from a central finance function in South Jersey.

Ideal candidates have up to three years of accounting experience, solid Excel and Windows skills, and hold a BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA/MBA preferred. The position offers a full-time on-site schedule with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare Hospital and related entity financial statements with GAAP compliance, including service group and cash flow analysis.
• Prepare and analyze financial data such as operating budgets, revenue by payer, expenses, cash, and balance sheets; support operational leadership.
• Assist in regulatory reporting including IRS 990, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare/Medicaid, and State cost reports.
• Support audit readiness with work papers and analysis for internal and external auditors.
• Provide financial analysis to managers to monitor expenses, budgets, balance sheets, and capital expenditures.
• Collaborate with staff to establish best-practice standards for financial analysis and documentation.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Onsite for 5-6 weeks, then remote Thursdays and Fridays, and every other Tuesday.

Summary

Responsible for preparing monthly and annual financial statements, supporting analysis and supplemental schedules.

Assists in implementing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles on all financial statements.

Supports the Senior Financial Analysts and Finance Management Team in preparing for special projects.

Acts as a Finance representative on committees and at meetings as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

• Assists with preparing the Hospital and or related entity of Virtua Health Financial Statements with GAAP compliance. Including Service Group Analysis and Cash Flow Analysis, which are reviewed by Senior Management and Virtua Health Board of Trustees.
• Prepares and assists in the analysis of financial data. I.E. Operating budget detail, statistics, revenue by payer, expense, cash analysis, balance sheets and provides support to Operational Leadership.
• Assists in preparing and analyzing financial data for Regulatory Agencies including Federal and State. I.E. IRS 990 tax exempt return, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare, Medicaid, and State Cost Reports, Bond Compliance, AHA Surveys, etc.
• Assists in ensuring audit compliance through preparation of work papers and analysis for internal and external auditors.
• Provides financial analysis assistance to Managers in order for them to adequately monitor operating expenses, budgeting, balance sheet, capital expenditures and/or cost/benefit or other analysis of existing or proposed services with Decision Support System Tools.
• Collaborates with staff to create best practice standards for financial analysis and documentation.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

Zero to three years in general accounting experience to include financial statement preparation.

Must possess knowledge and understanding of accounting practice and theory, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.

Required Education

BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and CPA / MBA preferred.

Annual Salary: $59,559 - $92,649The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
