As part of the Office of the Governor, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) work with local, state, tribal and federal governments, in partnerships with the private sector and faith-based community, to protect life and property against man-made and natural emergencies. In addition, GEMA/HS employees are on 24-hour call statewide to assist local authorities when disaster strikes The Financial Analyst is a member of the Finance Division team and performs advanced level finance and accounting duties. This includes developing, analyzing and monitoring financial data. This position enforces compliance with laws and regulations governing financial instruments, taxes, real estate and securities transactions, as well as serving as the primary resource for all agency contracts. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment and initiative to perform a variety of financial and accounting functions. This position maintains knowledge of all program areas within the GEMA/HS. Work product must meet stringent federal, state and other grant requirements.
The selected candidate will be required to pass a background investigation as a condition of employment. Items that may be examined in a background check include but are not limited to: credit records, criminal records, education records, past employers, military records, state licensing/certification records, and driving records.
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND Two years of professional experience in a related area OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience in a related area OR Four years of professional experience in general accounting, billing and collection systems and/or claims.
Associate degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional job-related experience in accounting, billing and collection systems, or claims; or four (4) years of professional job-related experience in general accounting, billing and collection systems and/or claims; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Financial Analyst 2 (FIP061) or position equivalent.
