Under the supervision of the Director, the Financial Aid Verification Coordinator/Counselor is responsible for performing preliminary financial aid counseling for prospects, students, and parents; monitors satisfactory academic progress and suspensions; processes awards for assigned population. Processes Verification, SC National Guard CAPS, and SC Vocational Rehabilitation forms. This position also assists with other certification, revision, and counseling.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred. Financial aid office experience and familiarity with financial aid related software systems and aid modules.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: A successful background check is required. Demonstrated knowledge in Banner processing system. Skilled within various PC software (Word, Excel, etc.). Strong ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions. Harmonious working relationship with colleagues, prospects, students and families.
