Job summary

Illinois State University is seeking a Financial Aid Representative to be the first point of contact for the Financial Aid Office. You will handle questions by email, phone, and at the front desk, counseling and advising student aid applicants and recipients, and helping with forms and data entry.

You will represent the office at on-campus and off-campus events and coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate guidance and processing.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework and/or office, business, or customer relations experience; 30 semester hours counts as one year, bachelor's degree as three.
• Strong communication skills for email, phone, and in-person inquiries.
• Ability to manage documents and data entry accurately.

The representative counsels and advises student aid applicants and recipients, helps receive and prepare the forms needed to process aid, and represents the office at on-campus and off-campus events.

• Answer financial aid inquiries from applicants and recipients by email, phone, and at the front desk, counseling and advising them and directing them to the right resources.
• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of financial aid programs, processes, requirements, and policies so students get accurate guidance.
• Receive and prepare the forms and documentation needed to process student aid, and help with related administrative work and computer data entry.
• Represent the Financial Aid Office at events on and off campus.
• Qualify with two years of combined college coursework and/or office, business, or customer relations experience; 30 semester hours counts as one year and a bachelor's degree as three.
• Pay of $17.37 to $21.00 per hour.
• Work 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, on campus in Normal, Illinois, with occasional evenings and weekends and a proposed January 2027 start.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States and perform the work from within Illinois; the university does not sponsor employment visas.
• Applicants are scored on education and experience, and the top three scores are referred to the department for interview.
