Job summary

HCI College in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor to guide prospective and current students and families through the financial aid process. You will handle federal and private funding applications, verify information in Campus Nexus and Campus Ivy Core, and provide counseling on aid options.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of Federal Student Aid, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal Student Aid programs and guidelines.
• Knowledge of Veteran Benefit program preferred.
• Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Team player with strong work ethic, able to coordinate multiple tasks to deadlines.
• Capable of working independently or in a team.
• Proficient with basic office equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Strong time management and ability to work under pressure.
• Able to multitask and problem-solve; maintain relationships with students, staff, and public.
• Able to work with a diverse student population.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to manage sensitive, confidential issues.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and internet.
• Not in default on any student loans; ability to obtain Federal Student Aid token.
• Flexible schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and parents to apply for Federal Student Aid and private funding.
• Provide information on requirements and procedures for financial aid programs.
• Review applications and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Verify ISIR data and ensure accuracy of award data in relevant systems.
• Complete verification when necessary to determine eligibility.
• Maintain accurate reporting and files.
• Provide entrance and exit counseling to students.
• Respond to inquiries from students/parents with guidance and information.
• Maintain close relationships with Admissions, Registrar and campus personnel.
• Remain current on applicable laws and regulations; ensure compliance.
• Participate in financial aid training and events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
